We started LFG to address two major health epidemics our country is experiencing.

The first is that rates of chronic disease are skyrocketing:

60% of Americans have a chronic disease.

40% have two or more chronic diseases.

70% of annual deaths in the U.S. are attributed to chronic disease.

The craziest part? 85% of chronic diseases are preventable, meaning nearly 60% of annual deaths in our country could be avoided by changing the way we live.

The second epidemic is a silent one—until it’s not. It’s that so many of us “just don’t feel good.”

We are constantly tired, anxious, fatigued, bloated, stressed, depressed, achy, restless, unable to focus, experiencing skin breakouts, hair loss, hormonal imbalances, insomnia, and weight issues. The list goes on. Yet when we go to our doctor, we are either offered a prescription or told it’s normal.

The problem with medication is that it only masks symptoms and often worsens the root cause driving those symptoms. And the normalization of feeling bad is just as harmful. Both allow the underlying dysfunction to run unchecked.

Over time, the root causes of why we don’t feel well compound, ultimately leading to a chronic disease diagnosis like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, or dementia.

But if we listen to the signals our body gives us when we don’t feel good and change the way we live, we can feel better now while also preventing chronic diseases later. We can live pain-free, happy, healthy, and energized lives.

So, what is the biggest driver of not feeling well and the chronic diseases caused by underlying dysfunction? Our diet.

60% of the American diet comes from processed foods. These are chemically modified, food-like substances that are incredibly harmful to our health.

How can we expect our bodies to fight off disease and feel strong, healthy, and resilient when we are pumping them full of fake food and toxic chemicals?

The solution is not as complicated as we might think. In fact, it’s pretty simple and incredibly intuitive: eat real, whole foods.

That’s it. Ideally, everything you eat should be a single ingredient in itself—like a sweet potato, chicken, blueberry, broccoli, or cashew. These foods don’t have ingredients. They are ingredients—real, whole foods.

When you buy packaged products, only buy those made with real, whole-food ingredients. If you can’t find every item listed on the back of the package in the grocery store on its own, don’t buy it.

And if you wouldn’t eat every ingredient on its own, don’t buy it. For example, in a popular protein bar, the package lists ingredients like “maltitol, sunflower oil, sunflower lecithin, and sucralose.” You can’t buy those items in the aisles of your grocery store. And even if you could (if you were grocery shopping at a chemical lab!), you wouldn’t want to eat them.

It’s simple. You don’t need to be keto, paleo, vegan, low-carb, ultra-high-protein, or carnivore. Just eat real, whole foods, and watch your health transform 🥑
